The KNUST Basic School has held its inaugural Sections Day, a special event to honour past and present Vice-Chancellors of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi.
Under the theme "Emulating Excellent Leadership in Our Time," students marched in their respective sections, each named after a Vice-Chancellor who contributed significantly to the university and its basic school's growth.

Rev. Mrs. Irene Nkansah, Head of the Basic School, expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellors for their commitment. "The leadership and vision of past Vice-Chancellors have propelled this institution to new heights," she stated, emphasizing the values they demonstrated.
She also acknowledged the support of parents and alumni, highlighting their crucial role in the school's development.
Professor David Asamoah, Pro Vice-Chancellor, KNUST, emphasized that true leadership requires recognizing and nurturing potential in others. "Leadership means creating opportunities for growth, encouraging innovation, and ensuring positive leadership that can transform societies," he said, urging attendees to strive for transformative leadership. "True leadership is not measured by personal success but by the collective progress of the communities we serve," he added.

Mrs. Dorothy Opare-Baidu, Oforikrom Municipal Director of Education, commended the school as a pacesetter in quality education. She highlighted the school's recent success in the 2023/2024 Junior Maths and Science Quiz competition, attributing it to strong leadership. "Their leadership was defined by their unwavering passion to make a difference in the lives of others," she stated, encouraging students to let the Vice-Chancellors' courage and dedication guide them.
"As we honour their contributions, we renew our commitment to uphold the values they instilled and the belief that we can make a positive impact on the world," she concluded.

The event also featured an awards presentation for the march past competition. The Prof. Kwesi. A. Andam Section and Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson Section secured 3rd and 2nd places, respectively. The Prof. Kwasi Obiri Danso Section emerged as the overall winner.
